What is Acupuncture? Acupuncture originated several thousand years ago in china and is a component of the Chinese medicine system of healing. It has been researched, developed and refined over many centuries and is widely used and accepted all over the world.
How Acupuncture WorksAcupuncture involves the insertion of fine sterile needles into specific locations that lie throughout the body on a complex system of energy channels. Pain and disease are caused by an imbalance or blockage of energy in these channels. The insertion of needles regulates the flow of energy and restores the harmonious functioning of the organs, enabling the body to re-balance and heal it self. The needles are retained in the body for 20-40 minutes whilst the patient relaxes, enhancing the restorative effects of the treatment. Traditional acupuncture treats the whole person, not just the symptoms. There have been many clinical trials showing that Acupuncture can stimulate nerve impulses, change the body's perception of pain and influence levels of hormones and neurotransmitters in the body. Chinese Herbal MedicineMedicinal plants are the basis of most medical systems around the world. Chinese Herbal Medicine is one of the oldest and strongest systems, it was developed in ancient times, by dedicated individuals, through the observation and study of natural plants. Today, herbal medicine is still an integral part of the Chinese health system, being used in conjunction with western medicine in the treatment of most diseases. Chinese herbs consist of dried flowers, leaves, seeds, fruit, bark and roots. The herbs are combined in specially tailored formulae where the properties of each herb act both individually and synergistically to correct the patient’s condition and restore balance and harmony within the body. The herbs are generally taken as decoctions or pills. Capsules, tablets, concentrated honey balls, powders and tinctures are also available. Herbal medicine is suitable for people of all ages and constitutions and may be prescribed for a wide range of disorders. Margella uses the highest quality herbs available, sourced only from reliable RCHM and ATCM approved suppliers. She does not use any animal or mineral products. Nutritional TherapyAcupuncture originated several thousand years ago in china and is a component of the Chinese medicine system of healing. It has The foundation of good health is a good diet. A radiant youthful appearance and a lean healthy body are the result of correct nourishment. Most physical and mental illness occurs as a result of malnourished cells, laden with trapped debris from synthetic and devitalised foods, environmental pollutants and over eating. Clean, healthy, waste-free cells create a vibrant, disease-free body in a state of perfect balance or homeostasis. Therefore the starting point for most people wishing to improve their health or lose weight is detoxification. Weight = Waste. Detoxification through live, nutrient-rich food can gradually produce complete healing and restoration of the body. Margella will help you to formulate a detox programme followed by a long-term eating and lifestyle plan that suits your individual needs. Long-term imbalances or deficiencies may need fine tuning with nutritional supplementation and /or herbs.
